Course year 2021/ 2022 information

This season of lessons at Kumulus is soon coming to an end. After a year in which we had to close our doors due to the COVID-19 virus, we are happy that we can still teach a few weeks before the summer holidays. Of course, we deeply regret that a large part of our year was lost this way, we would have liked it to be otherwise.

Muziekschool moves to Centre Céramique
Things will be different this coming year for our music students. This summer, the Muziekschool will move to the basement of Centre Céramique. On Saturday 17 July, the door to the Sint Maartenspoort building will be symbolically locked. This will mark the end of almost 40 years of music education in the former Franciscan Sisters of Wijck convent and chapel at Sint Maartenspoort 2. From the new course year onwards, we will continue our music school activities in the recently beautifully renovated basement of Centre Céramique.

Why have we sent you this letter?

As we do every year, we would like to inform you about your registration for the new course year. We are hoping that the Corona regulations we currently have to implement will no longer be necessary at the start of the new season. If this is the case, we will inform you in time. Further information about payment methods, discounts and Mijn Kumulus follows in this letter.

Your registration for a year-long course

If you want to continue your year-long course you don't have to do anything. We have already reserved your place for the whole upcoming course year, so you do not need to register again. This registration is available for you in the Mijn Kumulus portal. If you agree, you don't have to do anything. Would you like to cancel your year-long course? Please let us know before Saturday 10 July. If you unsubscribe at a later moment, you will have to give at least one month's notice.

Your registration for a short course or workshop

Did you follow a short course or workshop last year and would you like to do so again? Then choose one of the courses on our website and register again. Your previous registration does not continue into the new season.

Want to follow a different course?

Are you interested in another course, and do you want to be registered? Then enrol at www.kumulus.nl. Not sure yet which course you want to follow and you want to try it first? Then request a trial lesson. You can request this via klantenservice@maastricht.nl, where you can also contact us with any other questions about our (new) courses.

Mijn Kumulus

At Mijn Kumulus you can arrange your own course-related matters. At one glance, you can see for which course(s) you are registered and what the costs are. You can also sign up for our newsletter. You can find Mijn Kumulus on the top right of www.kumulus.nl Lost your login details? Click on Wachtwoord vergeten.

Payment

There are a number of ways to pay for your lessons. Did you pay the course fee last year in one go via invoice or iDEAL? Then you will receive a new invoice from us by post. If we have to cancel more than two lessons in the new course year due to an unexpected emergency, such as an outbreak of the Corona virus, we will refund the amount according to our refund policy. Are you paying in instalments? Then we will withhold the first term of your new course around 25 October. Do you want to change your current payment method for the new season? Please let us know before 10 July via klantenservice@maastricht.nl

Discount

Just like last season, we offer our students aged 12 to 25 a discount of 25% on all courses (with the exception of workshops). For dance students there is also the Excited Dancer discount programme. You get a 50 per cent discount on the basic price when you take a second lesson per week, so also on the third, fourth and more lessons per week. This is how we encourage young talent to participate in art and culture.

Jeugdfonds Sport en Cultuur

For children of parents with a smaller budget, discounts are available through Jeugdfonds Sport en Cultuur. Check out this page for more information (in Dutch).

The start of the new course year

The new course season starts on Monday 13 September 2021. We hope to welcome you again from that date.

Settlement of the current course year

After the current course year has ended, we will have a complete overview of the lessons that have been cancelled this course year and we will be able to make a calculation for the refund according to our general conditions. This is customised per course participant. That is why it may take a little longer than usual. We appreciate your understanding.

Questions?

If you still have questions, please check the Veelgestelde vragen on our website (in Dutch). If your question is not listed, or you require further information in English, please send an email to klantenservice@maastricht.nl

Thank you!

Finally, we would like to thank you for your trust in us and for staying with us, even in times of crisis. We hope that you will continue to enjoy attending our courses and wish you a wonderful summer!

Art education for everyone

The five art schools of Kumulus provide creative education in music, visual arts, dance and theatre. Every school offers a wide range of high quality courses you can choose from, always taught by experienced and professional teachers who also know their craft inside out.

The music, visual arts and dance schools welcome non-Dutch speakers, with art itself being the language spoken and the instructors possessing a high level of English. In our theatre lessons we ask for a C1 level of Dutch, as the courses are reliant on reading, writing and gaining instructions in Dutch.

Kumulus has about 2,500 students attending long and short courses as well as workshops and day sessions. Students are regularly given the opportunity to show their work or demonstrate their talent.

Getting started

Registration

You can register for your chosen course or workshop via this website. Just ask a friend, colleague or neighbour to help you out, you might even learn some new Dutch words! If you are not a current Kumulus student, you will be asked to create a new account. The My Kumulus application will guide you through the registration process (in Dutch).

Upon choosing a course, you will be able to see whether there are places available and if so you can progress with your registration. If the course is full (vol) you have two options: you ask to be placed on the waiting list, or by completing your details we can advise you on a suitable alternative to your first choice.

If you have any questions regarding the registration, please contact +31 (0)43 350 5600. Our customer service will be happy to help.

Prices and discounts

Our rates are subsidised by Maastricht Council. Prices for lessons that take place in a classroom setting are based on the number of participants per course. Some courses are more expensive due to the materials used during the lessons. When following music lessons, the prices for individual lessons are calculated on the duration of the lesson. When joining a group music lessons you will notice that they are reduced in price.

Students up to 25 years of age receive a discount of 25%. This way we can encourage the young people of Maastricht and the surrounding area to get involved in arts and culture. For those who have a tighter budget, subsidies can be requested via Jeugdcultuurfonds or through your local council. Check with your local council for more information and eligibility.
